We learned about why and how Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in Mexico. Many people think it is their Independence Day, but that is actually celebrated in September. Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexico's win during the Battle of Puebla against the French. We celebrated by making sombreros and doing the Jarabe Tapatío, the Mexican hat dance. This dance if often part of the Cinco de Mayo celebrations. |

To practice directions in Spanish, we spent the day outside and played pon la cola al burro (pin the tail on the donkey). The walkers had to keep their eyes closed and where a mask so they couldn't see where they were going. Their partners had to direct them in Spanish.
