Good news! I will begin to use the iPad in class within the next two weeks. I am so excited to incorporate new technology into the Spanish class. This is a brand new tool for me so it may take some time to find the right tools and apps. I'll keep you posted with our new activities : -)
I'm back Warner families! I can't wait to start working with your students again. We're going to be learning the alphabet in Spanish! For the first few days, we are going to be learning the names and sounds of the vowels. Then, we'll focus on some of the consonants whose sounds are very different than their English sounds.
I hope everyone had a relaxing Hola everyone!
Only six more school days until the holiday break! In Spanish, we'll be celebrating the holidays a little early. The students will be learning about Las Posadas and La Noche Buena. Two holidays celebrated before Christmas in Mexico and Spain. We'll be reading stories and doing crafts to learn about these holidays. I'll also post some resources on my page about these holidays. I hope everyone has a wonderful week and a very relaxing vacation! We're beginning week two of our alphabet unit. I'm very happy with how quickly the students are remembering their letters. Lately we've been playing games to help students memorize the names of the letters. Starting this week, we will be focusing on letter sounds and vowels.
I want to compliment all of the kindergarteners. I can tell they have been working hard to learn their letters in class. They correct me all the time about how to say the letters because they think I'm saying them wrong. It's so cute! They defenitely know their letters in English. Also, we started a new activity in Spanish called fish bowl. The students write a word they want to learn or a question they have on a paper fish, then they put it in the fish bowl with my friend Pescado (fish in Spanish). Every Friday, I choose 3-5 fish out of the fishbowl and teach the new words or answer the questions. The students are always coming in with questions and I don't always have time to answer them. This will hopefully help solve that problem. I hope everyone has a great week! Happy Monday! I'm happy to be back at Parma. We have a brand new unit! This one is based on Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. The students will be learning the names and sounds of the letters in the Spanish alphabet. The older students will also begin spelling in Spanish. Don't worry. No extra spelling tests. : -) I have posted the alphabet song in Spanish on the YouTube Video page of this site. There is also a game posted where students can practice their letter recognition.
I hope everyone had a happy turkey day! My month at Bean is already over. It went by really fast! I hope your students enjoyed learning Spanish. I'll be back in February. Please keep checking the site. The next unit will be based on Chicka Chicka Boom Boom or Chica Chica Bum Bum in Spanish. I'll be posting some resources to begin practicing the alphabet so your student can get a head start. Have a wonderful holiday season eve
I can't believe it is already my third week at Bean!
This week we are reading La oruga muy hambrienta. The students will also be making me gusta/no me gusta posters to show what they like and don't like. I'm trying to find a game or video to post so students can practice using me gusta/no me gusta. If you would like to practice with your child, you could practice at the grocery store. As you walk down the aisles, point to foods and ask ¿te gusta? If your child likes the food, he/she can say me gusta. If your child doesn't like it, he/she can say no me gusta. It's super easy and I think your child will have fun. I hope everyone has a great week! Thank you for visiting the Spanish website! I hope you found it interesting and helpful. I am going to stop sending home newsletters, and I will start posting all class information on this site.
I am in the middle of my second week at Bean elementary. I have really enjoyed visiting all of the schools and meeting the wonderful students. During the last two weeks, the kids have learned about Día de los muertos (Day of the Dead) and we learned some Halloween words in Spanish. This week the students at Bean have learned the days of the week in Spanish and we are starting to practice the colors. This is leading to La oruga muy hambrienta, or The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. We will be reading this story next week. Don't forget that conferences are next week. I'll be in the activity room at Bean. I hope to have lots of visitors! If you ever have questions or comments feel free to e-mail me! [email protected] |
